Amazon is a great place to buy books, but don't stop there. Here are ten things you can do with Amazon even if you never buy a book there.
Browse books. The new "Look Inside" feature makes this almost as much fun as browsing in a bookstore.
Buy lots of other stuff. It's not just books any more, not even for Amazon. Amazon sells CDs and electronics and more. And the Amazon site is home to other merchants like Land's End.
Make money as an affiliate. Sign up for the program. Recommend books on your site and provide a link to Amazon. Then cash the quarterly checks.
Make money by selling your own stuff. Got some used books or other stuff you want to share. Amazon can help you sell it through their Marketplace program.
Use Amazon as a price guide. Find an item on Amazon that someone else is selling and look at the price range. That will give you an idea of how the market values that particular item.
Use Amazon as a publicity tool for you or your business. Do book reviews in your area of expertise and get exposure to everyone looking for information on that topic.
Use Amazon to find experts who are authors. Search for books by subject. Note who wrote the books. See what other folks have to say about them and their books.
Use Amazon to find other experts. Many reviewers are true subject matter experts even though they may never have written a book themselves.
Use Amazon as a front end seller to develop a backend market. Make sure your book that's sold through Amazon has lots of contact information and offers that will get folks to seek out your Web site where they can become your customer.
Use Amazon as a gift suggestion service. Puzzled about what to buy Uncle Bob? Punch the name of a book or something else he owns and loves into Amazon. Then see what other books or toys Amazon suggests under "Folks who bought this also bought" feature.
