Let's say you’ve got a Web site for your business, but you don’t have any plans for going global. Not now. Not ever.
You’ve still got to promote your site. Some of what you do will be just like what the big kids do. You’ll want your site to be user-friendly and packed with relevant information. You’ll want to register with search engines, too.
But you’ll also need to do some special things to make sure you get all the local traffic you deserve. Be sure to do the following.
Make sure your town name and state are included in your title tags and meta tags. They’re important to help folks find your business.
Be sure to include references and testimonials from local customers. Nothing builds trust for a new customer faster than a solid reference from someone they know.
Make sure you’re listed on all the local search tools, like the chamber of commerce site. My research shows that consumers often look their first when they’re searching for local businesses.
Remember, the Web might be a global medium, but, in the end, all business is local.
