This page was created to support the program called "Beating Goliath: How to thrive against giant competition" presented on July 16, 2006 at the NAMM Summer Session in Austin TX. Here's a quick list of what you'll find here.
This program asks questions that are key to developing a strategy for beating goliath. It doesn't ask all the questions because we did not have time to cover them all. But you can download a question list by clicking here.

Dr. Kenneth Stone, of Iowa State University, has made a specialty of studying how smaller businesses can compete with large ones. His specialty is how small stores deal with Wal-Mart. On his site, you'll find an excellent report called "Competing with the Discount Mass Merchandisers" that has lots of good "Beating Goliath" suggestions.
In July, 2005, Tom Peters wrote a piece on his blog entitled "Beating Wal*Mart (Starbucks, etc) is a lark." It's a typical Tom Peters eruption, meaning that it's a little over the top, but filled with good insight. When you follow the link above, you'll need to scroll down to find the article.
