Getting a Great
Business Website
Budgeting
Budgeting for your public website is one of the most difficult problems you'll face. That's because there are no common standards. Articles in the media will tell you that the average website, or commercial website costs some astronomical figure. You'll have folks approaching you with offers to do it for almost nothing. Where do you start to set a budget?
Asking the question, "How much does it cost to build a website?" is a lot like asking the question, "How much does it cost to build a house?" Someone can tell you the median selling price for houses in the country, but that doesn't help a lot. You've got to come up with an answer yourself that's right for you and your circumstances and goals.
There are three main factors that determine your final budget.
Those factors will be in tension with each other so I suggest that you look at all three factors and combine them for the best budget.
Remember to include one-time and on-going costs in your budget. Make sure you account for additional promotional or administrative work.
