There are several sites that aren't search engines or catalogs, but that would be great sources of traffic for your site. These build traffic and also help your placement on search engines that factor "popularity" into their system for ranking. Here are a few.
Industry websites. Most sites that cover an industry have extensive links to websites within the industry. Check out all the associations and trade groups and do what it takes to get listed on their sites. If you have different Entry Pages for segments of the industry, ask for multiple listings.
Local websites. If you're a member of the chamber of commerce, get a link from there. Check out all the other local sites that can link to you. Trading links is a good way to get this to happen.
Zealot websites. Every issue, every topic, every industry, every everything has someone who's a zealot about it. Zealots put up sites with all sorts of links. Find them. Get linked from them.
Complementor sites. Complementors are businesses or individuals that your customers deal with but who are not your competitors. Get listed on as many of these as you can.
As you look for links get the ones that matter most.
