Overview

Do you have some great stories to tell? Do you know something that other people are interested in, or that can help them solve a problem? That's where it all starts. Something in your head that you'd like to share with others. What happens next depends on what you've done with it so far.

If you've already spent some time writing, you'll probably want a Manuscript Evaluation. We'll ask you some questions about your material and the audience you're writing for. Then we'll evaluate your manuscript.

We'll look at how well your material is written. We'll hand it to a professional editor and let him or her edit it for one hour. That will tell you a couple of things.

You'll find out how well you actually write. That can be very humbling. You'll also get an idea of how much editorial work might be required to bring your piece up to standard, along with an estimate of what that might cost. You'll also get our opinion on how the piece could be changed or developed.

One author we worked with had written a book for teens based on a historical incident. We recommended ways she needed to change the material so that it addressed that audience more effectively. Another author had written a book for new supervisors. We suggested several alternatives to his presentation. We also suggested several ways he could develop information products to go with his book.

What if you haven't actually written anything yet? Then you should consider Concept Development. We'll spend an hour or so chatting with you and doing some analysis of your knowledge. Then we'll suggest possible ways what you know could become a product that makes you money.

One couple we've talked to had wanted to do a book based on a course they've given for years. We suggested that they'd do better with a series of smaller, electronic products. If those sold well, a book might make sense later, but simpler products could get them making money more quickly.

There's a couple of things we don't do. We don't evaluate fiction for anything besides writing quality. It's simply too tough to do more than that and we don't want to promise what we don't deliver.

We'll help you evaluate whether you have the nucleus of a salable product and what it will take to make that product real. What we won't do is guarantee that it will be a success. We'll help you evaluate your market with tough questions and some standard market analysis, but you will have to decide if you want to take the risk (and there's always a risk) of developing your product.

If you want to move ahead, we can help you in a variety of ways. We offer a menu of services. Pick the ones that you want us to do and handle the rest yourself. This is a great option for a good writer who just wants help bringing a work to market without having to learn all the details of self-publishing.

We also offer Coaching and Consulting. We'll get you started on the project and then we'll touch base from time to time as it proceeds. Most of these conversations will be fairly short and we'll give you homework.

That's what we do. If it sounds interesting to you, take the next step. Click here to contact us about your project.
